Gold Nugget Museum

If you want to learn more of this area’s history, the Gold Nugget should be your first stop. This museum was built from profits of the local Gold Nugget Days celebration held each April commemorating the discovery of the 54-pound nugget found in 1859.

The Paradise Depot Museum

The Paradise Depot opened in March 1904, one of four depots of the Butte County Rail Road, built to serve Diamond Match Company operations in Stirling City. The Museum has a wonderful collection of Maidu Indian artifacts, including a replica of a Maidu woman grinding acorns.

Stirling City Museum/Library Complex

On February 28, 2002 Title for three buildings, and approximately half-acre of land, was passed to the Stirling City Historical Society by the State of California. It was formerly used by the California Department of Forestry (CDF) which has a large new facility just behind the Museum/Library complex.
