The Chico Art Center is announcing it’s next lecture in its seasonal guest lecture series featuring influential and innovative artists, architects, scholars, designers, and curators. The winter lecturer will be Kari Marboe who will be discussing her site-specific installation art pieces including the one she just unveiled at the Veterans Memorial Building for The Museum of Northern California Art (monca).
Kari Marboe will discuss monca/vmh, her temporary vinyl installation that introduces passersby to the Museum of Northern California Art’s new location at the Veterans Memorial Hall. The artist will speak about her interest in how a building and collection of artwork can harbor public histories and emotions, and what happens to a site when it’s asked to house multiple narratives. The nature of site-specific artworks and examples will also be touched upon, making this an ideal lecture for art enthusiasts of all ages.
This lecture will coincide with an exhibition that the Chico Art Center is hosting for monca during February – March 2014. This exhibition will be titled “Art Building Community: From the depot to the Veterans Memorial Building.” More info to come!
Lecture Date: Friday, February 28, 5:00 (Lecture will begin at 5:30). Refreshments will be served before and after.
Price: $10 members, $15 non-members, $5 Students
Seating is limited to 50. You can pre-purchase tickets at the Chico Art Center, open daily 10-4.
