Folk, rock, soul, and blues blend seamlessly when Laurie Dana takes the stage for the second 2014 Ebony & Ivory Concert at the Women’s Club. Dana, known for strong vocals tinged with sultry soul, has a diverse program planned to showcase the versatility of the piano as both a solo and an ensemble instrument. Dana will open the show alone and will gradually be joined by other musicians to create a dance band.“I’m very excited to be asked back for another performance on this incredible instrument,” said Dana, who performed in the Ebony & Ivory series last July.
The program will feature several of Chico’s finest musicians, including Richard Moore (former Troggs guitarist and now playing with Big Mo), Bob Littell (Sierra Nevada harmonica legend who plays with Mossy Creek), Glenn Tucker (Cammie winning keyboardist with Gravy Brain and the Ali Battalia band as well as bass player for The Love of Frank and Hippie Trap), August Rupe (guitarist for The Love of Frank and Hippie Trap), Joe Butts (guitarist and lead singer for Hippie Trap), Brian Drocket (legendary drummer) and Robert Baird (bass player for the Rockhounds). Other musicians to make special appearances, as they did last year.
