For many of us, birding is the gateway to learning about wildlife and appreciating the richness of the natural world. Birds are our most easily observed wildlife; we can see them live out their lives right in front of us, whether it be in our backyards or our big backyard, Bidwell Park. The diversity of habitats and the presence of Big Chico Creek have attracted hundreds of different species. Winter is a great time for birding, with our winter visitors such as juncos and yellow rumped warblers, and the leafless trees offering better views of the birds. We will use the Center’s binoculars and simple field guides to explore some of the more common birds found around the Nature Center.
