“[Toussaint is] a genius armed with a piano, sweet vocals and a lifetime of emotional anecdote.” — Down Beat
“Preservation Hall, now that’s where you’ll find all the greats.” — Louis Armstrong
Two New Orleans legends—one a man, the other a band—come together to celebrate and share the music of the crescent city. Born and bred in New Orleans, musician, songwriter, and producer Allen Toussaint has become one of the most recognized statesmen of New Orleans jazz. Awarded with the National Medal of Arts from President Obama in 2013, Toussaint recently collaborated with the legendary Preservation Hall Jazz Band on their 50th anniversary recording, St. Peter & 57th St. For 50 years, the first band of New Orleans has held court on St. Peter Street and toured the world with the singular mission of preserving the musical culture and heritage of New Orleans.
